These islands have mild temperatures and are home to a large biosphere reserve, and four national parks. Succulent grow easily, and the islands are famous for hosting over 40 species of the genus Aeonium. Seeds on the Canary islands are dispersed in large part by the native lizard population, who play a vital part in the ecological health of the plant life.
